Registering to Become a Coach

Whether you are a parent of a child in our program or not, you will need to create an account in our registration system and then follow these steps:

  1. After logging into the registration system and entering information about yourself, click to “Apply to Coach/Volunteer” at the bottom of the Welcome page.
  2. Select your name from the list of Registrants and click “Register now”.
  3. Choose the session you wish to volunteer for from the list of available sessions, and then select the desired volunteer role (Coach, Assistant Coach, Manager, Team Parent, NonRostered, etc.) and click “Register” under the appropriate session. 
  4. Select the division you wish to volunteer/coach for and click “Register”.
  5. Complete the LIJSL Online Quiz. This may take some time, but to complete it, click the “Take The Quiz” link. This will open the quiz in a separate window.
  6. Once the quiz is complete, click “Continue Registration”.
  7. Add any comments as appropriate. For example, you may wish to be paired with another specific coach, or a particular player (we would always pair you with your own child), etc. Then click “Continue”.
  8. Click “I agree” that you will abide by the NHP Wildcats and LIJSL Code of Conduct

Once you agree, you’re done! The Travel Commissioner will be in touch with you soon to discuss your background, experience and to discuss the NHP Wildcats coaching program and expectations.

Risk Management for Coaches

New Hyde Park Wildcats SC requires all our adult coaches to get a background check. The checks last for two years or until the end of the Spring outdoor season of the second season. Please read the information below and make sure you are taking the correct background screening for your league. If you are a coach for a team that plays in both LIJSL and NY Club, you must complete background screenings for both leagues.

Risk Management for ENYYSA (Eastern NY Youth Soccer Association)

(LIJSL Soccer and all Intramural coaches)

How to complete the Risk Management requirement for coaches:

  1. Go to the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Risk Management site by clicking here.
  2. Create a new account or login and register (Pay $10 Fee)
  3. Provide the necessary information for the background check, and take the Concussion Awareness training / certification program.
  4. You will receive two emails. The first usually arrives immediately after you complete the process. This is only a confirmation of your submission. The second email arrives 24-72 hours later, and includes your approval or denial. Assuming you are approved, forward your approval e-mail to either the Intramural or Travel Commissioner, as appropriate. 
  5. Keep a copy for your own records.
  6. If you’d like to be reimbursed, please complete the appropriate reimbursement form here, and forward it to the Intramural or Travel Director, as appropriate.

Risk Management for US Club Soccer (NY Club)

(Developmental Soccer coaches)

How to complete the Risk Management requirement for coaches:

  1. Go to the US Club Soccer Risk Management site by clicking here.
  2. Create a new account or login and register (Pay $18 Fee)
  3. Once you are approved, forward your approval e-mail to the Intramural or Travel Commissioner, as appropriate.
  4. Keep a copy for your own records.
  5. If you’d like to be reimbursed, please complete the appropriate reimbursement form here, and forward it to the Intramural or Travel Director, as appropriate.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  ALL NY CLUB COACHES MUST ALSO COMPLETE THE CONCUSSION TRAINING ONLINE COURSE THAT IS REQUIRED FOR THE BACKGROUND CHECK. YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK WILL NOT BE APPROVED UNTIL THE COURSE IS COMPLETED. ONCE YOU LOGIN AND REGISTER FOR THE BACKGROUND CHECK, YOU WILL SEE THE OPTIONS FOR THE CONCUSSION TRAINING VIDEOS. YOU MUST COMPLETE THEM ALL AND TAKE THE TEST.
